Dr. Jeanette Amayo has worked in the field of education for over 20 years, first starting out as a Teacher for student with special needs and currently serving as the Dean for the School of Education at Jones International University. Her professional experience has provided her the opportunity to gain extensive skills in leadership, faculty development, and administration/supervision.  Ø  Leadership Competence: The ability to promote the academic achievement of all students and make every decision on what is in the best interest of the student; establish clear goals and keep those goals in the forefront of the university's attention; facilitate a data-driven educational environment; provide team-building leadership; create an effective professional development plan based upon a Needs Analysis; and continuously monitor the effectiveness of university practices and their impact on student learning.  Ø  Faculty Development: The proven experience to develop faculty content and instructional pedagogy. This has been accomplished through established professional development, effective modeling processes, faculty conferences, forums for Best Practices, and through the use of formative assessments and evaluations. Led training for school administrators to improve the effectiveness of their teachers through the Colorado State Model Evaluation System. In October 2014, presented at the AACE E-Learn International Conference: Using Formative Feedback to Improve the Effectiveness of E-Learning Faculty.    Ø  Administrative Competence: The talent to maintain a safe, respectful, positive, and effective learning environment; evaluate and provide feedback of staff performance; establish strong lines of communication with the staff, students, and community; monitor financial procedures; establish a set of operating procedures and routines for the staff and students.        She has an uncompromising view that all students can learn, given a positive learning atmosphere that welcomes exploration and enhances student confidence. It is her belief that an educator’s mission is to make school rigorous and relevant and to build relationships so that students feel a sense of belonging and develop confidence in their own abilities.
